Emulating a Master

Emulating a Master

Overview

This piece emulates William Henry Jackson’s photographic style through tools, techniques, and a central theme of discovery and awe.

Goal

The goal of this project was to study a master's photographic style, utilizing color, composition, and subject matter to capture an engaging and visually compelling landscape.

Approach

Using a composition inspired by Jackson’s style, this photograph follows a loose grid, allowing for natural imperfections. The image was edited in a low-contrast black-and-white, guiding the viewer’s eye and creating discovery through rediscovery, emphasizing the detail and expanse of the landscape.
